I am sorry that I have not kept up with our blog! I can barely keep up with life most of the time! By the time the evening comes around...I am all out of steam!

Update on the King Family -

David is working at Weir Mesa Manufacturing as the materials manager. It is very busy as the oil field is going great this season! He is also the ward executive secretary at church. When not at work...he enjoys being with his family and beating us all at every game we play! He is that darn good!

Laurel is the 2nd counselor in the primary organization at church. Along with that she stays very busy with the four girls (running them around to their different activities & trying to keep the peace), her vinyl lettering business, zumba classes as well as doing some transcription/dictation for a local doctor in the area. She has been batteling swelling in her foot along with the constant neck problems that she has. Maybe she stays so busy so she won't have time to feel the pain...unfortunately the pain seems to find her when it is time to go to sleep....grr!

Ashley spent the 1st part of the summer playing the part of a Bolin sister in the community play of "Annie". We (her parents) have decided that will be the last time she is in a play until she can drive herself to all the practices...lol...okay...maybe not. We will see! She really did love it and it was exciting to see her on stage and perform in front of a different audience each time. The middle of the summer was spent babysitting a neighbor family (for the month of July) while their mom finished up her school courses. She enjoyed earning some extra money and even purchased an iTouch and her first clothes outfit. She has enjoyed having extra money. She has enjoyed taking voice lesson's this past year and earned a class I in her solo/ensemble in choir. She earned straight A's all year long as well.

Briana has spent the whole summer involved in gymnastics. She has been training 9 hours a week and really loves the sport! She recently learned her round off back handspring and her coaches say she is an absolute "beast" on the vault and bars....I think that means she is good....lol. She was in the honor choir at school and earned straight A's all year long as well as not being absent AT ALL during the whole school year.

CJ has become such a little reader. When not with friends, she can be found sitting in the corner reading a book. She has also developed a thing for texting with her moms phone. She participated in her first piano recital this year and while it was very nerve racking for her...she did very well!

Danielle (or Dani as her fellow gymnasts and coaches call her) has also found a love for gymnastics. She has a great natural talent for the sport. She has won numerous contests involving handstands and long-hang pullovers on the high bar. She even beat the varsity gymnasts in the pullovers. Her coaches can't wait until she is old enough to be on the competing teams. As well as gymnastics...she also participated in her 1st piano recital and did very well. Her feisty attitude and stubborness continue to make her parent's hair turn grey!

All in All, the King family has been doing great! Even if we don't find the time to post! We love you All!

I have been so busy working and driving the kids all over the place that I haven't been able to keep up with my blog. Facebook has also been a big distraction! Hopefully everyone can forgive me! lol

I just wanted to post a quick update on our family since I don't seem to get on here enough. Here is the run down --

David is enjoying work at Weir Mesa, and when not there working, stays busy as the executive secretary at church.

Laurel has picked up a job doing medical transcription on the side so while the kids are at school, she is working from home. When school ends...she is running around with kids to gymnastics or other meetings. She is one of the activity day girls leaders at church.

Ashley loves being a 7th grader at Bonham. I was really worried about her starting Jr. High but she has loved it from day one and has met a few good friends that she shares classes and lunch with. She decided to take gymnastics as an elective this year, as well as choir and AVID. She is also taking an after school gymnastics class 3 days a week with her sisters. She loves Young Women and singing with the church choir.

Briana loves being a 5th grader at Milam Elementary. She made the gymnastics team and her 1st gymnastics meet will be on September 29th. She also auditioned and was selected for the Milam Ministrel choir. For their P.E. classes at Milam...they have the option of taking dance, so Briana will also be learning Ballet & Hip Hop this year. She loves Activity Days and is also taking the after school gymnastics classes 3 days a week.

CJ is our little 3rd grader and will also be taking Hip Hop and Ballet this year. She is also taking piano at Milam once a week. She loves activity days & gymnastics after school with her sisters.

Danielle is having a harder time with going to kindergarten. It is a very long day compared to what she has been used to. With Milam being a Magnet school, they don't get out until 4:15 pm. She cried the 1st 2 weeks but I think we may have found the key...We decided to let her buy ice-cream at lunch everyday if she goes happily without crying. Except for a few tears...this has worked pretty good. She is impressing all of her gymnastic coaches (after school) with her natural talent in the sport. She will be learning Ballet at school this year but she has stated that she does not want to "perform" in front of the parents for their recital. I don't know if that is part of their grade or not..so we shall see what happens when that time comes.

That is our update in a nutshell. Hope all is well with you guys! We love and miss all of you!

OK.....so I have been told by someone (who shall rename nameless), that if I don't update myblog...they were going to "kick my butt". So....I am finally "updating" my blog. Since our arrival in Odessa, things have been busy. The kids started school & have loved the fact that they are ahead in their school subjects because they had already covered in Allen, what is being taught in Odessa. It has taken CJ a little longer to "fit in" because she is so shy but I think she has finally come around. David is doing great at work but seems to be on the lonely side. We need his guy friends to move down here or maybe come & visit him (hint hint Branden!!!!) Laurel is just basically following her sister around like a little puppy because she doesn't have any friends of her own here either. I am sure that as soon as our house in Allen sells & we are able to get one of our own here...we will be able to make friends of our own & start having game nights & meeting people....
We did sign Ashley up for Ice Skating lessons & the rest of the crew in gymnastics lessons. They are all enjoying that & can't wait for school to be out so they can play non stop.

We do miss all of our friends tremendously!!!!!! & we want to wish all of you mothers a Happy Mother's Day! Write us soon! Or come & visit us!

We Made It

We made it to Odessa at about 10:00 last night. I want to again, thankyou all for the TON of help you gave us in packing & cleaning. We sooo would not have been able to do it & get out in time without you all. Without your help in packing & cleaning, & meals & support! I think we set a record in moving out of the house in a week!!! THANKYOU so much!!! We are going to miss you all so very much too. We loved Allen! It has been my most favorite ward! I will try to keep up with my blog & facebook & hopefully you all will do the same!

OK....so it is official! David got a job offer & accepted with Weir Mesa Manufacturing in Odessa, TX. It is weird to be moving back to the place I grew up in & around people I grew up with but, such is life. I always thought that once I "broke away" and became my own person, with my own family & my own kids, that I would be away & out on my own. I guess I have been for 15 years but now the Lord wants us back in Odessa....so...we will be moving in a week. Yep! You read it right...ONE WEEK. David & I are going crazy trying to load up like mad people & get everything done, such as paint touch ups & repairs, talking to realtors, etc, etc.... Anyway...we LOVE Allen, TX and are going to miss it and our friends sooo much! If anyone happens to drive through Odessa....look us up! Oh...& by request from Mary McDonald....I changed my background....I guess some people are just getting "too old" to have so much going on with a page background..ha ha ha...love you Mary!

Danielle just loves babies & couldn't get enough of baby Clayton Jones when they came to visit us the other day. She would hold him & tickle him all day long if he would let her. She was really excited when he fell asleep while she was holding him. So sweet!

Our 1st Broken Bone

Of course Danielle waited until we didn't have insurance before she decided to go & break her arm! On Monday, the girls (all 4 of them) and their friends decided it would be "cool" if they went on the outside of the net on the trampoline & walk all the way around. Well....Danielle was accidentally knocked off hurt her arm. David & I had no clue what to due, with no insurance & all....so we waited & watched her. She was not putting any weight on it so by Saturday...I was totally freaked out & planning on taking her to the ER. We said a prayer & felt that we needed to wait until Monday before we took her in...so...I tried to calm myself down. We went to church the next morning & I immediately took Danielle to see my physical therapist/friend sitting in the back row of the chapel. I said "I know you don't have x-ray vision, but could you look at her arm anyway & tell me what you think?" He looked at it for a minute or so & said "ya know...my brother in law is here for Sacrament meeting before he flys back to Idaho and he is an Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon and could look at this. He is who you really need." So...we waited in the foyer for him to arrive and had him look at her arm. He said "you could have taken her in for x-rays & they wouldn't have seen anything & sent you home but...she has got a hairline fracture of the growth plate in her wrist. If you had insurance, I would tell you to cast it but since you don't right now & if she is really careful...you can get away with splinting it for 3 weeks, assuming she doesn't injure it worse." Needless to say....We were thrilled that we didn't waste our money on xrays that would not have shown us anything! And that the Lord answered our prayers with this wonderful man who just "happened to be at the right place at the right time" when we needed him to be! Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou!

Ashley tried out for the Honor Choir this year and made it!!! They only accepted 100 kids out of all of the elementaries, so she was so excited, as were we! And so Proud! They have 2 hour practices once a week and have various concerts throughout the school year. This was a Christmas concert with the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra.

Twilight Review

OK...so when I saw it the first time at midnight/opening night, I was totally bummed out & very dissapointed. They didn't capture the exciting build up of the Love between Edward & Bella and I thought it was very fast paced and choppy. Too rushed. If only they could have made the movie a little longer & then put in some more of the build up.
I saw it again on Saturday & I did have to say that when I wasn't nit picking it to death, I did like it alot better. Although...I still think that Jasper looked like he had something stuck up his rear the whole time...sheesh..for someone who can control emotions...he sure needs to work on his own....But...I can say that it does stink that we have to wait a Way, WAY long time before we get to see the next movie. I will be looking forward to that...until then..I will just have to keep reading the books

OK...so please keep your ears out for any job openings. The company David worked for finally had to call it quits & everyone that worked there lost their jobs. They ended up selling the company off in chunks to different people/companies. So...David will be hitting the internet, head hunters, everything else...please keep us in your prayers.
Amazingly...I feel weirdly at peace. I know the Lord is in charge & that we will be taken care of. I just don't know how or when yet....but I do know that it is coming.

David was talking with the girls this morning about the Bronco game this evening. He said if they lost, we would all have to wear black the following day so that we could mourn properly...Danielle piped up from the other room and said "NO! My mom came up for the 2nd weekend in a row. Last weekend, she & my Papa Fanning came to visit & to go see the BYU game (which was not a good game at all...BYU got killed!). We had a blast visiting with them & playing games/watching movies/shopping. Then, this past weekend, my mom flew up for our friends wedding. The daughter (Rhea Canfield) of my mom's best friend (Sherry Canfield), got married. She had the most gorgeous wedding ever! It was so beautiful. I was holding it together until I looked over at her brothers & saw them tearing up, then I completely lost it too. We grew up with these guys. Joey (her brother) was my first boyfriend in the 3rd grade...and my first kiss (as much as a 3rd grader even knows how to kiss).....I know...I know...3rd grade...Yikes... Anyway...It was great to see them all again. The youngest brother Skyler even thought that I looked 18 years old & actually got up & left the table when I told him that I was 34 and had 4 kids. Oh Well....atleast he thought I looked 18 & that is what counts! I was totally thrilled the rest of the night! Woo Hoo! Thanks Skyler!!!

Both of my brothers are in Afghanistan. Clifton is with the Air Force & Craig is with the National Guard/Army. Miraculously, they are only stationed about 10 minutes apart so Craig was able to hop a quick flight over to see Clif on his birthday (Sept. 14th) and have some ice-cream with him. It is realy great to see both of my brothers together & smiling! I love you guys! & Happy Birthday Clif!

My brother Craig had a layover at the Dallas Airport on his way back to Afghanistan so we were able to meet him there & talk with him for about 3 hours. It was really neat to see the girls interact with him & ask him questions about what he is doing and what the patches meant on his uniform. It was also really neat to see all of the many people come up to them & tell them thankyou for what they are doing. There was a whole line up of people hugging the troops & thanking them for everything. It was all very heartwarming. As scary as it is for me to have both of my brothers overseas & in that mess... my heart goes out to their wives & kids. I don't know how they get through it all. I love you Jessie & J-Me. You are always in our thoughts & prayers. Thanks for all that you give up so that our Country stays safe!

Breaking Dawn!

Ok...so am I crazy or what?!?! On Friday night, I got in line (I was the 1st one in line...he he) at 10:30 pm at the McKinney Wal-mart to pick up the newest book of the Twilight series. A few minutes later & I was joined by 5 others. From then, the line started growing pretty rapidly. Some of the others said that they had tried to go to the Barnes & Noble to get in line but there were more than 5000 people there! and the wristbands were gone (you had to have a wristband in order to get a book because they only had 5000 copies of the book). So, they came to Wal-mart. While we were sitting there, my dad calls me from Georgia and says "Where are you at right now?" I told him kind of laughing & he breaks up laughing and says that He and Mary are waiting in line also to get the book. But...because of time changes, they were getting their copy in just a few minutes. So...what does he do??? He calls me after they get the book & he starts reading from the Last Page! Dad! What are you doing???? Don't blow it for me! All these people around me are just laughing until he starts reading & then they are like...Hey don't blow it! Don't tell us! What a funny guy! Anyway...we waited it out, barely, until 12:01 until they finally gave us our books! Yee haw! I got home at 12:15 pm and immediately started reading (while David sighed in the background...he new I was a lost cause until I was done with the book:). I read until I couldn't read anymore for the night (5:30 am) and then went to bed. Well, I must have been too anxious because I was only able to sleep until 9:30 & then I went right back to reading. David was a real sweetheart & locked me in my room (so the kids couldn't bug me) and brought me up lunch when it was lunch time & extra water & coke zero and then he locked me in again. I read all day long, not ever leaving my bed or getting changed/showered, until 6:30 pm when I finally finished the book! Holy Cow! I loved it! I love this whole series! and I love David for letting me get away with reading all day long! Anyway...then I was bombarded at church with questions from everyone that had not yet finished the book asking me if it was a happy ending & other questions...I kept telling everyone..."I am not going to tell you, you gotta read it" lol....it was so funny. Ashley finished the book this morning & next David gets to read it. Anyway....fun weekend!

Bread, Bread & More Bread..

So...I recently dusted off the old bread maker that David & I have had for years & have been making Bread almost every night. I wish the machine would make enough for us to eat for atleast a couple of days but my family tends to eat it all up on the same day...so I just end up having to make more the next day. I also am going to try a sourdough using a bread starter. We will see how that works.
Other than this...I have been crafting alot, working on home made Christmas gifts, making cards, Reading the Twilight series for the 5th time & listening to them on my mp3 player. Anxiously awaiting Saturday when I can get the newest book "Breaking Dawn". We have been hitting the pool every other day so as I won't get too burnt & so on the days we go, I don't tend to spend as much money :)

My kiddos are packed & ready to go to Utah. David & I are another story...we must either be slackers or....just busy parents. We are all very excited to go though. We will see Grandpa & Grandma King on Saturday night and the Jamisons on Sunday! Then....we will get to see Aunt Jessie & her kids and then Uncle Brian's family.....Needless to say....WE ARE EXCITED!

On another note...Happy Birthday to Briana today. She is now our most favorite 9 year old on the planet. We love her sweet & caring spirit.

I have never, ever, EVER read a book & then wanted to immediately read it again until I picked up and read the Twilight series. Ashley (My almost 12 year old) has even read them twice with me now. I am anxiously awaiting her new book in the series which will come out August 2nd and for the movie to come out in December! If you have not read these books, I urge you to! They are awesome!

Uncle Glen & Nathan came for a quick visit, well really they came for a couple of Rock Concerts, but we got to visit with them some. We played "Mario Olympics" on the Wii. Uncle Glen kept getting an "aww, too bad" while trying to play the game. Some character would come on screen and say that he fouled. He was so mad! so my girls like to taunt him with that now. We can't believe how tall Nathan is now!

My sister & her 2 kids (Madi & Zack) came to visit us for a week and at the end of their stay, we were lucky enough to get my other Niece & Nephew, Karlee & Brice (Clifton & J-me's kiddos). We took them all to Gattitown where they had a blast! Here are a couple of those pics.
